Plattsmouth High School Historic Apartments
CLIENT: Plattsmouth Apartments, LLC
LOCATION: Plattsmouth, NE
ARCHITECT: Alley Poyner Macchietto
The historic Plattsmouth High School was constructed in 1919 and was operational until the 1970s. After 30 years sitting vacant, the building was nearing a point where it could not be saved. The development team worked closely with the city of Plattsmouth and selected Lund-Ross to bring new life to the property.
Initially, efforts were concentrated on repairing the major structural damage throughout the building. An entire stairwell had collapsed and nearly every wall and floor required re-inforcing.
All new utilities are being brought in, a storm shelter is being constructed and an elevator added.
Twenty-four one- and two-bedroom apartments will serve the growing housing needs in the community.
Historic tax-credits are part of the funding and all requirements are being met by the design team and Lund-Ross.
