Open Door Mission Lydia House
CLIENT: Open Door Mission
LOCATION: Omaha, NE
ARCHITECT: Alley Poyner Macchietto
Lund-Ross constructed a new facility for the Open Door Mission Lydia House for Women and Families. Located near downtown Omaha, the Open Door Mission provides basic needs for men, women and families in need of immediate assistance.
The new Lydia House spans 64,000 square feet and serves primarily as a residential facility. Lund-Ross built multiple family units that each feature a sleeping room for the mother, a separate sleeping room for children, a kitchenette and a private bathroom. Lund-Ross also built dining areas, nurseries, classrooms and administrative space for the Open Door Mission in the facility.
The new Lydia House can provide safe shelter for more than 300 women and families every day. In addition to providing basic needs like food, shelter and clothing, the Open Door Mission offers individualized case management and long-term recovery programs to address the causes of homelessness.
Lund-Ross completed the new Open Door Mission Lydia House for Women and Families in December 2009.
