Florence Lakin Child Development Center
CLIENT: Micah House
LOCATION: Council Bluffs, Iowa
ARCHITECT: Holland Basham
After multiple successful projects with Micah House, Lund-Ross was again selected to construct the Florence Lakin Child Development Center on the Lakin Campus in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
A thorough preconstruction process with owner represenative Field Day Development and architect Holland Basham involving multiple design concepts and pricing exercises established the necessary budget and scope that met the needs of Micah House.
The Lakin campus houses multiple nonprofits and required careful coordination of utilities and logistics with neighboring buildings (including a 58,000-square-foot building Lund-Ross was constructing adjacent to the project).
The 12,000-square-foot structure includes multiple age-group rooms, age-appropriate bathrooms, a kitchen, break area, staff offices, activity room. Outside, a large playground was placed amongst the site landscaping.
Custom casework specific for child care was installed throughout the center.
The project was delivered on time and on budget in June of 2019.
