Lund-Ross constructed a new facility for the St. James Church in northwest Omaha. The 20,900-square-foot addition was built on the site of a fully operational K-8 grade school.
The St. James addition is a steel-framed brick structure that seats 750 worshippers. The addition also houses a library, nursery, choir space, rehearsal room, and narthex. Lund-Ross constructed a new sacristy for the liturgical ministers to prepare for services and a new storage space to replace a closet that once held sacred items for mass.
Lund-Ross carpenters installed a large amount of oak trim throughout the interior, including a tongue-and-groove ceiling in the nave and narthex. Stained glass designed and produced in Omaha was used on the project. Other unique elements include the tabernacle and a six- foot corpus sculpture carved in Italy.
The St. James addition was completed by Lund-Ross on time and within the established budget. Lund-Ross worked closely with the St. James staff to coordinate the construction schedule around the school’s activities and ensure the safety of all students and staff.
