Open Door Mission Campus

Lund-Ross served as the Construction Manager at Risk for the phased construction of three new housing facilities on the Open Door Mission campus near downtown Omaha. The Open Door Mission provides basic needs for men, women, and families in need of immediate assistance.

The new 64,000-square-foot Lydia House for Women & Families was built by Lund-Ross during Phase I. Family units were built throughout the facility, and each unit features separate sleeping rooms for mother and children, a kitchenette, and a private bathroom. Lund-Ross also built nurseries, classrooms, dining areas, and administrative space for Open Door Mission. The Lydia House opened on time in December 2009.

Lund-Ross built the new 60,000-square-foot Permanent Supportive Housing facility during Phase II. The new facility provides safe and affordable housing for men, women, and families who may benefit from living in a stable environment for an extended period of time. Crews built 41 apartment units, community rooms, classrooms, and administrative space into the residential facility. The Permanent Supportive Housing facility was finished on time in May 2011.

Lund-Ross built the new Garland Thompson Men’s Center during the third and final phase of construction for the Open Door Mission. The Men’s Center provides emergency shelter for up to 180 single men every night and houses the resident rehabilitation program, Veteran Housing First Program, a learning center, fitness room, medical clinic, and laundry facilities. The new Garland Thompson Men’s Center opened after one year of construction in summer 2012, and the men’s housing wing was completed by Lund-Ross in the fall.
